Susan L. Higgins is an award-winning leader in fashion with over 20 years of experience in all facets of the industry. Originally from upstate New York, Susan specializes in design and creative concept strategy development, leading innovative global projects with unique style and ingenuity. Feet on the ground at every step from factory to runway, concept to delivery, she is accomplished at tracking and predicting trends in fashion and skillful at launching and optimizing brand performance in all facets of design and retail. From a large close-knit family, Susan has been honing her leadership and group management skills since childhood and thrives at the helm of a challenging team project.
Most of Susan’s career was spent in NYC perfecting her skills in the industry by establishing her style through leadership with multiple junior and tween lines in the fashion capital. She achieved acclaim as design director with companies such as DKNY Girls & Nori/Plugg. Skilled at predicting trends in the market, she designed unique concepts from start to finish, guided a team through execution and stamped her signature style on each line.
Later moving to Dallas, Susan went on to revamp and inspire multiple lines for JCPenney ranging from women’s active-wear, junior & tween fashion. As a certified yoga instructor, Susan really shined developing designs for several performance & athleisure lines, drawing her inspiration from her own healthy lifestyle. Taking her skillset to the next level, she has recently been working with Interactive Sports Design, a wearable tech startup. Further expanding her experiences by combining her knowledge of apparel with technology on a line of active tech sportswear. On the other side of the world, she also championed a project with the Bridge School in Nairobi, Kenya, designing low cost uniforms for students in Kenya, Uganda, Liberia, Nigeria, & India from concept to production. Additionally, Susan is owner and creative director for her own yoga and lifestyle brand Fashionista Yogi.
When not designing, Susan currently works and lives between Atlanta, Ga & Tampa, FL and draws her daily inspiration from world travel and cultural immersion, time with friends and family, a healthy lifestyle, and teaching and practicing yoga.
